Thousands of visitors flocked to Bishop Burton College for this year’s Spring Live event, with organisers hailing the day a huge success.

Families travelled from across the region to enjoy a packed programme of entertainment, demonstrations and hands-on activities at the college’s picturesque campus near Beverley.

The hugely popular annual event showcased the breadth of Bishop Burton’s specialist land-based curriculum while celebrating the strong links between the college, industry and the local community.

Visitors enjoyed a wide variety of attractions throughout the day, including sheepdog demonstrations, animal feeding experiences, horse trials, tractor and machinery displays, assault courses, craft activities, fairground rides, games and much more.

Dozens of trade stands and a farmers’ market also proved popular, with guests sampling and purchasing locally produced food and drink while supporting regional businesses and organisations.

Students and staff from across the college played a key role in delivering the event, helping visitors explore the campus and offering insights into the practical, career-focused education available at Bishop Burton.

The event provided prospective students and families with an opportunity to discover more about courses in agriculture, animal management, equine studies, engineering, sport and other specialist subjects through interactive demonstrations and exhibits.

Spring Live also reinforced Bishop Burton’s long-standing reputation as one of the UK’s leading land-based institutions, combining innovation and sustainability with more than 70 years of educational excellence.

Danny Metters, principal and CEO of Bishop Burton College, said: “Spring Live 2026 has been a tremendous success and it was fantastic to see so many people enjoying themselves.

“The atmosphere throughout the day was incredible, with families, local businesses and members of the wider community coming together to celebrate everything that makes Bishop Burton so special.

The event – supported by headline sponsor Fine & Country and wider event and activity sponsors – once again highlighted the important role the college plays within the region, not only as a centre for education and training but also as a hub for rural enterprise, community engagement and skills development.

Students involved in the event gained valuable experience working alongside staff and industry professionals, helping to deliver activities and demonstrations to large crowds throughout the day.

The college offers courses from entry level through to postgraduate study and continues to play a key role in developing future talent across a wide range of industries.
