Brad Fash and Kris Welham will bring together former players from both sides of Hull’s rugby league divide for a special one-off testimonial match.
Hull’s famous rugby league rivalry will take centre stage at Sewell Group Craven Park this autumn when former Hull FC favourite Fash and ex-Hull KR player Welham come together for a rare testimonial derby.
The special fixture, taking place on Sunday, October 11, will give supporters the chance to see former Black and Whites and Robins players back on the pitch as the city celebrates two players recognised for ten years’ service to rugby league each.
Fash, a popular and committed figure during his time with Hull FC, will be joined by former teammates and familiar Black and Whites faces. Welham’s Hull KR connections will also be represented by former Robins players returning to Craven Park for what promises to be a memorable afternoon.
The match forms part of the Fash and Welham testimonials, awarded in recognition of each player’s decade of service to the game under the RFL testimonial scheme.
While the Hull FC and Hull KR rivalry will always bring extra pride to the occasion, the game will be a celebration of two players’ contributions to rugby league and an opportunity for supporters from both sides of the city to show their appreciation.
The day will also recognise the grassroots clubs that helped shape both players’ journeys. West Hull, where Fash played junior rugby before joining Hull FC’s academy, and Myton, where Welham began his rugby league pathway, will be celebrated as part of the match-day occasion.
Supporters, players, families and volunteers from both community clubs are encouraged to attend and be part of the celebrations.
Fash said: “A testimonial is a really meaningful opportunity to reflect on the people who have been part of your journey – teammates, coaches, staff, family and, above all, the supporters.
“To share the occasion with Kris, and to bring Hull FC and Hull KR connections together at Craven Park, will make it a special day. It is a rare chance for fans to see former favourites back on the pitch, enjoy the rivalry in a friendly setting and celebrate what rugby league means to Hull.”
Welham said: “The Hull derby has always been one of the biggest occasions in rugby league, and that is what makes this match so special.
“Although it is a friendly, there will always be plenty of pride when former Hull FC and Hull KR players take to the field. It will be a great opportunity to look back on some brilliant memories, catch up with familiar faces and thank the supporters who have been part of our careers.”
Tickets for the match are £12 for adults and £6 for children, and are available at: https://www.eticketing.co.uk/hullkr/EDP/Event/Index/289?position=4
