Hull’s city centre will once again be turned into a vibrant, open‑air cultural playground as Freedom Festival returns for five days of eclectic events, spanning live music, dance, street theatre, circus, visual arts, immersive performances, film screenings and large‑scale outdoor spectacles.
This year’s theme is Peace. From joyful street theatre to exhibitions and installations, the programme offers many ways to explore the meaning of peace.
The festival showcases over 100 acts and provides a platform for regional emerging artists and musicians, as well as critically acclaimed buzz bands from further afield.

Every September thousands of volunteers across England organise events to celebrate our fantastic history and culture.
In Hull, the event showcases the city's rich maritime heritage, historic churches, museums, public buildings, hidden landmarks and community spaces. Visitors can enjoy guided walks, talks, exhibitions, family activities and special events that reveal the people, places and stories that make Hull unique.
It’s your chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences – all of which are FREE to explore.
Some activities may require advance booking due to limited capacity, so visitors are encouraged to check the programme before attending.

Set in 1930s New York, brave young Annie is forced to live a life of misery at Miss Hannigan’s orphanage.
