Ten top tips this month, by Rose Barker

There’s a bit of everything happening across Hull’s music venues this November, from early 2000s metal nostalgia and space rock to local indie bands, jazz and some wonderfully chaotic guitar music.
I’ve picked out ten gigs worth getting in the diary, so hopefully there's something here to tempt you out on a chilly November evening!
We're kicking things off on Sunday, November 1 with SOiL at Asylum (£31.74), joined by Finger Eleven and Adema. If you were into alternative metal in the early 2000s, you’ll probably recognise a few names on this lineup.
On Friday, November 6, BBC Radio 6 Music’s Chris Hawkins brings his Awesome Friends night to The New Adelphi Club (£14), with Witchcraft, The 113 and Rothco on the bill. A good excuse to spend a Friday night at one of Hull's most legendary music venues.
Congratulations are heading to Polar Bear Music Club on Sunday, November 8 (£10), bringing a slightly bonkers mix of art-rock, garage, synth-pop and post-punk. Expect fuzzy guitars, big basslines and plenty of energy from a band who don’t seem too interested in sticking to one genre.
If you’re after something a bit more psychedelic, Hawklords are at Wrecking Ball Arts Centre on Friday, November 13 (£19). There’s space rock, a full light show and music spanning their own releases and the wider Hawkwind story.
Saturday, November 14 brings Breeze to Social (£11). The band of brothers have a sound that sits somewhere between Cast and Shed Seven, with plenty of big guitars and harmonies. A good one for anyone who loves a bit of guitar-driven indie.
For those who like their gigs loud, Enter Shikari are bringing their Lose Your Self Tour to Connexin Live on Sunday, November 15 (from £61.25). They’re known for throwing rock, electronic music and hardcore into the same set, and their live shows tend to be pretty full-on.
There’s something a little different on Thursday, November 19, when Hot Club de Hull play The People's Republic as part of Hull Jazz Festival (free entry). They’ll be bringing a mix of gypsy jazz and hot swing, taking inspiration from the music of the 1920s onwards.
MC Devvo is back at O'Rileys on Friday, November 20 (£15), alongside Hull’s own Jodie Langford and northern hip-hop artist Marx. His last show sold out, so if you missed it the first time around, here’s another chance to catch him!
And to finish off the month, COWBOYY are playing The Welly on Wednesday, November 25 (£8.85), supported by Hull bands Portable Memory Of and Evil Will Prevail. Expect frantic math-rock, ridiculous guitar parts and plenty of unexpected twists.
Whatever you’re into, there's plenty to keep us warm and moving this November.
I’ll see you down the front!
