ARREST: Police saw man acting suspiciously near car in Melton

A man has been arrested after police saw what appeared to be a stolen police uniform and machetes in a car.

Officers were in the area of Melton Old Road in Melton on Sunday when they notice a man acting suspiciously around a car. There appeared to be a stolen police uniform and machetes inside the vehicle, Humberside Police said.

Checks showed the car was displaying what were believed to be false registration plates.

The force said today: “A 34-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of theft, possession of an offensive weapon, fraudulent use of a registration mark, using a motor vehicle without insurance, and causing the driving of a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence. He remains in custody while enquiries continue.”
