A woman suffered bruising to her neck when a man grabbed her hijab and tried to “yank it off her head”.
British Transport Police said the incident happened as the women stood near a doorway to Paragon Station at about 7.45pm on Monday, June 8.
They have now released CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to in connection with what they said was a racially aggravated assault.
The force said: “At around 7.45pm on Monday 8 June, a woman was standing by the station’s doorway when a man approached.
“He grabbed her hijab and attempted to yank it off her head, pulling it tight around the woman’s neck causing bruising.
“The woman tried to push him off, and he eventually walked away.
“Officers would like to speak to the man pictured, as they believed he may have information that could help their investigation.”
Anyone who recognises the man can contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 650 of 8 June.
Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
