‘REALLY COOL’: Elsie Jackson with her KCOM advert
By Rick Lyon, Co-Editor
Talented youngster Elsie Jackson is no stranger to seeing her name in lights – but seeing her face lighting up the side of a building is a new experience.
Twelve-year-old Elsie is one of the faces of a new campaign by broadband provider KCOM, which means her 30ft high face is now emblazoned across the front of the company’s Hull city centre HQ.
Hornsea School pupil Elsie is used to being in the spotlight, having previously starred in adverts for Coco Pops, Ocado and the Disney Store, but seeing her giant smile on the side of a building was an unusual experience, she admits.
“It’s really cool but at the same time it’s weird,” she laughs. “It’s funny to think my face is massive on the side of a building in Hull, but it’s great that my friends will be able to see me up there too!”
Elsie, who wants to be a West End star when she leaves school, can be seen in KCOM’s TV and cinema advert which is now showing across East Yorkshire.
The giant 200sqm orange banner was unfurled by specialist abseilers outside KCOM’s Carr Lane offices, this week, as the company launched its latest campaign promoting its 99.999% reliable broadband network. The campaign features local people enjoying everyday online activities such as gaming, scrolling and streaming.
Elsie’s mum Lisa, who runs East Yorkshire-based Lisa Marie Dance Academy, said she was incredibly proud of Else’s achievements.
She said: “She’s super talented. She can sing, dance and act and she works really hard at everything she does, so I’m really proud. We keep seeing her face on posters on KCOM phone boxes and posters around the area. Her friends have a game where they keep sending us selfies with her posters when they spot them, but this on the side of the building is a whole new level!”
KCOM managing director Neil Bartholomew said: “It’s great to see the banner finally up where it should be and Elsie taking pride of place on the side of our Hull offices. We’re really proud of being the UK’s most reliable broadband provider so this statement banner is a great way to tell the world about it.
“A huge thank you to Elsie for being part of our campaign and we’re looking forward to seeing her beaming down on us for the year ahead!”
