The college has unveiled two new gym areas alongside community-led fitness programmes and a specialist training space, further enhancing the college’s reputation as a National Centre of Excellence in Sport.

B-Active, a fully-equipped gym including brand new resistance, cardio and functional training equipment located in the college’s Centre for Sport and Fitness, is open to students, college staff and members of the public.

B-Power is a dedicated strength and conditioning gym which has been purpose-built to meet the training needs of the college’s elite sport academies and professional club partners, such as Hull City Academy. It is designed to enhance athlete development and support high-performance training.

This dedicated space will also provide a new resource for delivering the college’s higher education sport degrees.

A third specialist training area - B-Educate - has been created to support further education practical academic course delivery, aimed at those studying courses such as sport, public services, equine, agriculture and construction.

This significant investment in health and wellbeing for students, athlete performance, staff and the wider community has been made possible following funding from the college and external partners.

Sean Greenwood, sports operations and business manager at Bishop Burton College, said: “Our vision was to create separate, purpose-designed spaces to ensure every individual has the right environment to thrive and achieve their fitness goals.

“It has been a huge team effort to bring this vision to life and the new facilities will enhance the experience for both students and our wider community, giving everyone the opportunity to enjoy and excel.

“It’s incredibly rewarding to see a concept that began 18 months ago become a reality and the benefit it will have on our current and future users.”
