Ryan Longman hopes his Hull City team-mate Keane Lewis Potter will carry the confidence of winning his first England cap into the final games of this season’s club campaign.

The Tigers star came off the bench to make his bow for England U-21s in a 3-0 win for the Young Lions in Albania on Tuesday night, and is considered one of the hottest talents in the Sky Bet Championship.

He will quickly get his chance to show his new stature as an international player when City host Huddersfield Town for a Yorkshire derby at the MKM Stadium on Friday night.

With just seven games to go, City are looking to end their campaign on a high - and record a long-awaited home win - when they face the top-four Terriers, who are desperate to keep their promotion chances on track.

Looking ahead to the clash at an online press conference today, Longman said of his fellow forward: “Good to see Keane got on last night, excellent for him, really happy for him.

“Obviously even getting a call-up’s an achievement of itself. Hopefully he can just take that confidence and bring it into the next seven games now.”

Longman said there was not a “mental block” when it came to home games - City have failed to win any of the last six in front of their own fans - and he was hoping “this game on Friday will just be the turning point for us”.

Tigers boss Shota Arveladze will have almost a full squad to choose from, after revealing Hull-born defender Lewie Coyle was fit again. Randell Williams remains the only first-teamer still ruled out through injury.

Arveladze said he did not expect any surprises from Huddersfield, and said of the Yorkshire rivals: “I think it’s a team who do not surprise anyone, and does well the whole season.

“Very good team, very good organised team, play different systems; four in the back, five in the back, good offensive team, a lot of creators they have, so I’m not waiting that they will surprise me somehow.

“It’s a known team, what we can get from them. We will have a hard time. We will have a very tough team against to play, so we try to prepare what we can, where we can hurt them, and get our best from this game.”
